This class covers basic concepts in designing and developing a SharePoint Site. It is intended for non-technical administrators of sites and pages.

Training Class Goal

Students coming from this class will be comfortable using out-of-the-box SharePoint functionality to develop SharePoint sites after the backend SharePoint structure has been setup.

Prerequisites

Basic computer skills, including proficiency with websites and browsers, familiarity with email, and Microsoft Office.

Overview:  SharePoint 2007 and 2010 have different navigation features.   Although many of the features are similar learning how to access them in one interface will not transfer over easily in the other interface.

2007

  • Navigation/Interface:  Uses toolbars and Site Actions menu

2010

  • Navigation/Interface:  Uses the Ribbon and a more extensive Site Actions menu
